Getting started

Create your account, verify your email, and find your way around the member portal.

Creating your account

Your account belongs to one organization. If you are a member of more than one organization that uses this platform, you will have a separate account for each, even if you use the same email address for both. They do not share a password and they do not share a profile.

  1. Step 1: Open the registration page

Go to /register (opens in a new tab), or choose Create Account from the sign-in page.
  2. Step 2: Enter your details

Email address, first and last name, and a password of at least eight characters. You will be asked to type the password twice and to complete a captcha.
  3. Step 3: Submit

The organization you are registering with is shown on the page, so you can confirm you are in the right place before you finish.

Verifying your email address

Registering sends a verification link to the address you gave. Until you open it, your account exists but is not activated, and a banner across the top of the portal will keep reminding you.

The link opens a page that confirms the address and lets you continue. If it has expired, that page offers to send a fresh one — you do not need to register again.

Tip

No email after a few minutes? Check the spam or promotions folder first. The message comes from NIWE, not from a generic product address, so it may sort differently from what you expect.

If you were already a member before this site

NIWEmay have moved its membership records here from a spreadsheet. If yours came across that way, you already have a record — with your membership number, your category and whatever dues history NIWEkept — but no password yet.

Go to the link NIWE shared and find yourself with your surname plus one other detail: your phone number or your membership number, whichever they have for you. Check the name and number shown are really yours, then choose a password.

Note

Two details, not one. A surname on its own is never enough. Membership lists get passed around, and if a name alone could claim an account then anybody holding a copy of the list could claim yours.

If nothing matches, the details NIWEhas for you are probably different from the ones you tried — an old phone number, or a number they never recorded. Contact the secretariat and they can send you a link directly. For the same reason the page never says which part was wrong: it cannot, without telling a stranger who is on the list.

Adding an email address at the end is optional and worth doing: without one there is no way to reset your password later.

Signing in

Sign in at /login (opens in a new tab) with the email address and password you registered with. Where you land afterwards depends on how far along your membership is: a new account goes to the onboarding steps, while an established member goes to the dashboard.

Note

If NIWE moved you across from an older system, your first sign-in will ask you to set a new password before you can continue. This is expected and applies to every migrated account.

If you forget your password

Choose Forgot Password? on the sign-in page, or go straight to /reset-password (opens in a new tab). Enter your email address and the platform sends a reset link.

Reset links are single-use and expire after a short time. If yours has already expired, request another from the same page — the expired link tells you so rather than failing silently.

Finding your way around

Once signed in, the sidebar on the left is your main navigation and the header runs across the top of every page.

  • Dashboard — the member wall: posts from other members and updates from NIWE.
  • My Profile — your record, your application status, and links into each part of it. Representatives of a corporate member see Our Organization here instead, which opens the body’s record rather than their own.
  • Celebrations — birthdays, anniversaries and the milestones NIWE marks.
  • Payments — what you owe, checkout, and your history.
  • My Training — the courses you are enrolled in.
  • Events & Conferences — everything you have registered for, including general meetings, and where your invitation letters and certificates appear.
  • Notifications — everything the platform has told you.
  • Help & Guides — these manuals.
  • Settings — your details, security and preferences.

In the header, the magnifying glass opens search, the bell shows unread notifications, and the circled i is the help menu that brought you here. Your avatar at the far right holds your profile and sign-out.

Wherever you meet a list — your payments, your training, your registrations — the first column opens the entry. On your payments, that means tapping the payment’s description or reference shows what it covered and where to download the invoice and receipt. On a phone, a table with many columns scrolls sideways rather than hiding any of them, and says Scroll sideways to see more above itself when there is more to the right.

Administrators see one extra control at the foot of the sidebar that switches to the admin area. If you do not have admin access it does not appear. See the administrator manual.
